Legalized Prostitution in Canada – A liberal Convention Priority

The federal liberals continue to race Europe to the bottom of the moral bucket. In the last 13 years this political party has pushed decriminalized marijuana. They have created programs to give out free needles and crack kits to drug users and free heroin to addicts. Safe injection sites have been erected so that high paid doctors could be diverted from providing health care to supervising people as they break the law by using hard drugs. A bill is now working its way through Parliament to rewrite the definition of marriage to include same-sex marriages. And now we learn that legalizing prostitution is a priority of the liberal party.

The liberals have long been supporters of legalizing prostitution. Liberal senator Mac Harb believes it is a great idea. When Mac Harb was the liberal MP for Ottawa Center, he introduced a private members bill to legalize prostitution in 2000. Libby Davies, the socialist NDP Member of Parliament is working on a similar bill to legalize prostitution now. The justice committee is looking into the issue.

For insight into the nightmare that legal prostitution would mean for Canada, we can use the example of Germany. In Germany, prostitution is legal and women under the age of 55 that have been unemployed for over one year can be forced to take any available job offer. One woman was told that an employer liked her resume and wanted to interview her. Only after a phone call did she learn that the employer was a brothel. Since prostitution is legal, German law no longer considers prostitution immoral and so jobs cannot be turned down without a risk to benefits.

Consider also the crime wave that has swept Germany following its move to legalize the sex trade. Reported cases of human trafficking more than doubled between 1993 and 1996. Women from all over Europe and Asia have been kidnapped and sold, to be used as sex slaves in German brothels. The best estimates are that between 60,000 and 200,000 women are working the sex trade in Germany and about half are foreigners.

Judy Sgro made Canada the stripper capital of the world and now the liberals want to do the same for prostitutes.

It is repugnant for a pimp to benefit from the perverse thing that is the sex trade. Legalizing and taxing it merely makes the Government a pimp as well.
I'm sure school girls in Nevada nor Germany grow up wanting to be the star attraction in a whorehouse.
No amount of government regulation will make it medically safe. If it is legalized, Every Government member who votes FOR this should be made to share a pooled blood transfusion from sex-trade workers.

As usual you've posted a lot of unfounded nonsense.

I just have time for one;

The lie about Germany forcing women into prostitutionTreating things like drug addiction and prostitution as crimes, instead of adressing them as social and medical issues, hasn't solved the problems. New approaches are needed, and some, like safe injection sites and regulated prostitution, have been found to be effective.

You can look for soutions, or can believe the lies and bury your head in the sand. Your choice...

... I dont the truth but if you force someone in to prostitution you should die plain and simple because at that point you have demostrated that you are no better than an animal. As for canada... it is starting to make me very sorry that you share a border with me... and yes i have a problem with nevada having prostitution too. If canada continues down this road i am willing to pay for a guarded wall between you and me...

Unlike many of snopes articles, this one barely qualifies. The story in the Telegraph contains quotes like:

"There is now nothing in the
law to stop women from being
sent into the sex industry,"
said Merchthild Garweg, a
lawyer from Hamburg who
specialises in such cases.
"The new regulations say that
working in the sex industry
is not immoral any more, and
so jobs cannot be turned down
without a risk to benefits."

As for your so-called new approaches being effective, the evidence is in. The failure of so-called harm reduction strategies is historical fact. Safe injection sites do little or nothing to curb drug use, -in fact they prolong or promote it.

Sorry Hamm, but you're wrong. The German case NEVER HAPPENED! Someone's fear that it might theoretically be possinble (a fear which has been put to rest by the direct denials of the agencies involved) does not validate the falsehood presented in Michael's post. It just never happened.

And no one is claiming that safe injection sites will end the drug problem; but they can save people's lives and slow the spread of diseases like AIDS and Hepatitis. People can't kick their habits if they're dead...

These are public health issues, and you can't solve them by just throwing people in jail.

Yeah right. Show me a junkie, and I'll show you someone that will break the law in a heart-beat if it means getting their next fix.
For 2 generations we've been teaching kids that doing drugs is wrong. Nobody can claim they didn't know. And sure as hell, no one forced them to start using in the first place.
It boils down to a single concept that liberals can't seem to understand, called "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY".

Well Hamm, I'm all for personal responsibility.

I'm also for compassion. As a wise man once said "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"...

I'm also for things like harm reduction and effective legal, soacial and medical policy. I don't think turning on backs on people who have made mistakes and leaving them to suffer and die is a useful response. It maight help some of us feel superior, but it doesn't deal with the problem. And that's what matters.

Hey I'm compassionate as hell. If we throw the law-breakers in jail, they'll get all the medical help they need.

I also won't object if anyone wants to drop out of society, become homeless, and live in the bush or on the street. Later, if they need my charity, my help that is, to get back on their feet I believe it is my duty to step in and give it.

BUT if all the junkies want is to sponge off of the fruits of my labour so they can continue to feed their addictions... -take off.

If my neighbor falls in the mud and gets covered from head to foot am I being unfairly judgemental to say he's muddy? Of course not. It's an observation. I'm also not being unfairly judgemental when I say a daily patron of Vancouver's so-called safe injection zone is a junkie.

Do not forget how that biblical story about casting the first stone ended! After her hypocritical accusers left, Jesus told the woman to "Go and sin no more."

We both hate Mac Harb, and i think he is a pimp as well. I correlated Germany's legalizing and forcing women into brothels as well.
"Lets see if Mac Harb changes his mind after he gets hooked on heroin, then has to whore his man flower / love hole to a 300lb copycat of Jeffrey Dahmer for 30 dollars so he can get his next hit. Let's see if he thinks it's good for tourism then."

Mac Harb is a Pimp
